Description
I had wanted to design a table primarily in mahogany, which would be built with long, narrow, wedged-shaped pieces, cut from the same plank. After cutting the plank, and as I began to laminate the pieces, I realized that the natural strength of the wood led to a somewhat different "split" design. The colors of the padouk and mahogany seemed to invoke the sense of the "Sami" people of northern Scandinavia. Ultimately, I offset the legs slightly, allowing for an abstract reindeer appearance. (The reindeer is an essential part of the Sami lifestyle.)
