Last autumn, a client asked if I might be interested in designing and building a presentation box for his conducting batons. Having served as a music conductor for forty years, I was delighted to say “YES!”
The lid and floor are birds eye maple; the walls are goncalo alves; the internal “nest” is padauk and bubinga, and the corner splines and lid accents are ebony. The box is finished with fourteen coats of tung oil. This piece was a joy to build!
